does anyone knows what are the long term side effects after qutting smoking?

Quit smoking almost 2 years ago, in february would be 2 years exact. Still want a ciggarete every day of every hour. Fight is hard but cravings substantialy decreased.

I think it depends upon how much you smoked and for how long. Like someone smoking half a pack a day for 10 years would probably have a better chance of never having any related diseases than someone smoking 2 packs for 60 years. You can always ask your doctor to have a look at your lungs if you’re concerned that you may have done long term damage.

Has anybody tried the new pill to quit smoking, called Chantix. I am having some horrible side effects from it

Has anybody else had bad side effects from it–what were they?
Has anyone else had side effects with this –what were they?

I took Chantix for 3 months (starting last October). The only side effects that I had were weird dreams (and boy were they weird), upset stomach, and trouble sleeping.

The upset stomach started from day 1 and by day 6 or so had gotten bad enough that I thought I was going to throw up every time I had a cigarette. Once I stopped smoking on day 8 the upset stomach only kicked in for about 30 minutes after I took the medicine. After awhile it disappeared completely.

The trouble sleeping also went away after a week or so on the highest dosage. After that I was actually sleeping better than I normally would. I have to say I miss that side effect!

Good luck using Chantix. I’ve been smoke free since October!

I quit smoking completely last January 1st. I tried to smoke once since then but threw it out immediately?

Can I still I’m smoke free for one year when January rolls around? I got really drunk and angry one night about 7 months after I quit and decided I wanted to smoke. I lit the cigarette up, tried to inhale it just once, felt like crap, and threw it out. Does that count as smoking? My bf said he didn’t even really see me inhale it. I felt so guilty about it. I have ZERO desire to smoke anymore.

Since smoking is habitual, and you tried it once after you quit but did not continue to light up, then technically it’s not smoking.

Hi! I’ve been smoking for 19 years and tried Chavix last year for one solid month. Now- it did work- I did not smoke. However, I gained 15 pounds and became very depressed and beyond angry. My mood swings were insane and I took it out on anyone in my path. I finally realized it was the Chavix and stopped for a week- I went back to normal and do not recommend it to anyone. What did work for me was going to a hypnotist. I know it sounds crazy but they put you in a relaxed state and after a few sessions you quit without wanting to kill anyone or gaining weight.

How come you get depressed when you quit smoking?

Is it an actual side effect of nicotine leaving your body? I have quit smoking a million times and usually find myself lighting back up cause I can’t stand the misery.

But this time i’ve lasted over a month. I feel great. I’m not depressed anymore. Tho i’ve had heaps of bad shit happen to me while trying to quit, i’m pretty happy.

But my poor husband gave up smoking 4 days ago. And he’s miserable. Everything to him is negative. I hate to see him this way. I was that way too!

Is there anything to help him not be depressed. Or do you just have to get through those evil 2 weeks without smoking and it will go away. Is there a magic vitiman?

When you are a regular smoker your brain gets used to the nicotine. Once you quit it creates a chemical imbalance in your brain because you took away a chemical that has become part of the regular system. This most likely causes headaches, depression, and cravings. It is also why using gum and other methods that have some nicotine in them help people quit. It reduces the amount of nicotine slowly over time to help the brain functions learn to balance and operate without the nicotine. I would recommend just using one of those systems offered in drug stores or use your own such as going from say a pack a day to half a pack for a week then a quarter of a pack for the next week to 2 a day for a week to one a day for a week then one every other day for a week to none. This way the brain should balance out and he should be much healthier and happier! Good Luck!

This CHRISTAIN BOY QUIT – SMOKING! Chantex Side Effects – had to many for me.

I decided to post a video on after 25 years of smoking, to help get a CHANTEX REVIEW out there. It has a very good success rate 44% – but the #1 side effect is depression. THERE ARE MANY ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY tools out there that work, however it also depends on the individual who is quitting smoking.

I had to stop take Chantex on Day five due to a weird depression type feeling WHILE I WAS STILL SMOKING! – So I quit with nicotine patches, gum and God. So far so good! 7-30-09

Message to Christians: I have read and heard so many Christians feeling so much quilt because they are smoking, and can’t seem to quit. First of all – NO ONE should be feeling guilty of trying to quit an addiction because YOU want to.
I have seen way to much legalism in Religion and Churches, condemning those who smoke and that is straight out UN-BIBLICAL period.
If someone or organization is telling you that you have to quit smoking to do this or that, or get closer to God…run from the lie and hit your knees and just pray to Jesus Christ. It is the personal 1 on 1 relationship which will help you! You can not get wrapped up in any type of legalism what so ever! NEVER quit smoking if your not ready, regardless what others may say! God is not looking down on you with a whip. I have been walking with Jesus Christ for 5-1/2 years now, and He helped rid me of so many drug and alcohol addictions. Now God just gently tugged on my heart and asking me if I would quit now…
So bottom line – Christianity is NOT legalism. There are brothers out there that love Jesus with all their heart and still smoke! This is not to encourage anyone to keep on smoking if the feel God tugging at them, but to just tell you that no one should ever feel pressured or quilty when trying to quit smoking! God will tug at you when it’s time, or if you really want to quit for yourself..then start tugging on God.

I stopped smoking 4 weeks ago and have started getting chest pains is this a normal side effect of quitting?

I’m considering starting again as I never had these pains when I was smoking I thought stopping would be good for my health now i keep getting random twinges of pain in my chest a few times a day – is it a side effect of stopping smoking?
BTW I’m 25 and have smoked for 10 years

yes this is a normal side effect of quitting. i smoked for 15 years and nearly 2 yrs ago i decided to give up. i was irritable, ate more, and i got severe chest pains and my chest felt tight, i thought i was having a heart attack. try not to worry as this is a way of your body telling you it needs nicotine, but try and live through it as it will eventually pass after about 6-8 weeks.do not go back to smoking as you have come so far and you are through the worst of it. hang in there.
